long overdue post...

Hi all... I just wanted to give a quick update. So here are some quick tidbits about my big girl...
  • She laughed out loud for real (like a big kid laugh) for the first time tonight while Bradley was blowing on her belly.
  • She has such great control of her head and she loves "sitting up" where she can look around.
  • I fear she is becoming a TV junkie... bad? educational? eh jury is still out. But it makes her kick her legs and smile huge so in small amounts I don't see the harm. She loooves Mickey's playhouse the best for sure! Dora & Handy Manny are tied for second haha.
  • I love that we have such a great bedtime routine.... bath, splashes, bedtime lotion (thanks Christy.. ahh Baby Magic smells soo good), clean jammies, playtime, bottle then into bed she goes. Sometimes she is asleep, other times dozing and sometimes even wide awake when I put her in bed. We are so blessed our girl falls asleep on her own in her crib, what a blessing.
  • I weighed her on our scale at home last night she weighs 16.3lbs. Big girl!!
  • She still loves the swing (thanks again Christy haha!!)
  • She made her first mini road trip last weekend to Mississippi to visit aunt Yo & Uncle Moose. She was perfect in the car... in fact on the way home she slept the whole trip home. 3.5 hours... good girl!
  • A bib is a necessity at this point, she is drooling up a storm.
  • She is drinking 6oz every 4 hours.

Bedtime now... I'll write again soon :)

poor neglected blog...

haha.. my poor blog is so neglected these days. Well Today my sweet baby girl is 12 weeks old. I guess from here on out I'll just say 3 months, 3 1/2 months, etc. It's so hard to quit counting time in weeks after doing it for the entire 40wk pregnancy haha.

Jocelyn is amazing, I know what parent doesn't think their new baby is amazing, but she really really is amazing!! She is the best baby. She of course has her fussy moments, but don't we all :) She has been sleeping through the night I mean all the way through the night since I started back to work. What great timing eh? Most week nights she has a bath, takes her "nighttime" bottle and is in bed asleep by 9:30 and I have to wake her up to take her to my parents house around 7:15am. Crazy huh? A couple short months ago I never thought I'd see the day when I would wake up before her haha! I am once again a well rested woman :)

Today on her 12wk birthday I can't help but to look back and think of how much she has changed in such a short amount of time. She has turned into quite the little sassy girl with lots of personality :) She loves bathtime she has learned she can splash... and boy does she. She wiggles back and forth and splashes all the water out of her little baby tub haha. Now if we could just figure out how to get her to not poop in there haha... (yes you saw correctly my baby is a bathtub pooper. eewww it has happened x 3 now, yuck!) She is full of smiles and eyebrow raises I can't hardly stand it! She is so great.

As an update for me.. physically great as far as post partum stuff goes. Have been healed and feeling fine for a while. That being said I started back on birth control and am hating it!!! I am finishing this pack and am not taking more. I have decided I'll just chart my cycles and pray that the Lord will keep things from happening until it's time, because the pill makes me feel like poo. Everynight I feel sick, I tried to wait to take it until I'm in bed and about to fall asleep and even then I still get the "gonna barf" feeling, ick! Also this past month of taking the pill I have gained 7 count them 7lbs! double yuck! Nothing fits and I feel hungry and bloated all the time just blah. So I'm done, I talked to Bradley about it and he agrees I should just not take it. So there we go :)

Ok I promise I'll update again soon with pictures, I'm slacking I know, it's been tough being back to work this makes 4 weeks. I am still taking pictures just not as many as before!! I'll definitely get back on track though soon :)

2 Month Doctor Visit

Today Jocelyn had her 2 month well baby check. She is such a good girl. She didn't fuss a bit when she got naked and weighed or when the doctor was checking her out. My big girl is weighing in at 13lbs 11.2oz and is 23.5inches long. That makes her 90th percentile of height and head circumference & 95th percentile for weight :) Dr.Lenga said "they don't come any more perfect than that"!! Yay. Before the doc came in Jocelyn was looking at herself in the mirror and being her usual smiley self!! It was all fun and games until the ladies with the shots came in :( boo my poor bug had to get 3 shots- 2 in her left leg & 1 in her right. Thank God she has all that chunk on her thighs now to help cushion!! I gave her tylenol about 30 minutes before she got her shots so I hope that helps her feel a little better this afternoon. She of course cried very big & loud but only for a few minutes. By the time we walked up front and got checked out she was sound asleep on my shoulder! My girl is a trooper.

ugh...

Why can't it just stay Sunday for a while longer... I don't want tomorrow to come. Maybe I'll just quit my job? Do we really need to pay rent? car note? have cable tv? buy groceries?

I know I'm not the first mom to ever have to go back to work after having a baby and certainly not the last. I also know I'm incredibly blessed to have my mom watching Jocelyn when I go back tomorrow, what a huge relief that is. Plus I was able to spend 8 incredible weeks at home with her, not everyone gets 8 weeks off. All that being said I'm selfish and 8 weeks is not enough. I want to be able to be with her all day like I have been the past 2 months. I want to lay on my bed and cuddle up, play peek a boo, listen to her little laugh, to see that big toothless smile, "watch" girly movies together on rainy days, go shopping together (my girl is a good shopper)... And as if this transition wasn't going to be difficult enough on it's own, she isn't feeling well right now. Stuffy nose & cough bless her heart!! Also she is still not sleeping through the night. At least when she goes to bed at 10-12 we are only up once so that's good. I just don't know how it is going to work I mean I'll survive but I'm sleepy/tired now and I get to go back to bed for a few hours after her early am feeding usally around 6am-7am. So it'll be a change for sure getting up during the night then getting myself ready & Jocelyn fed/ready and out the door around 7:15. Eek!

I'm trying to focus on some positives... I am so excited for and looking forward to this holiday season. Halloween will be here before we know it, very quickly followed by Thanksgiving then Christmas. I love Christmas, always have. I have my christmas tree up the day after Thanksgiving if not before haha. I can't wait to prop Jocelyn up in front of the christmas tree and take pictures!!! Yay!

On a more positive note one good thing I can think of about going back to work tomorrow is that I'll quit eating all day long. Being at home all day is terrible for my diet. At work I get busy and if I don't eat during the lunch break time I might not get another minute to sit and eat... so that's good for me. Definitely keeps me on track.

Sorry this was a whiny post, I'm so blessed to have such an amazing baby girl, a wonderful husband, a great job, a fantastic "baby sitter" for while I work etc. Thank you Lord for all your blessings and I know you will be with me to help ease this transition time.

7 Weeks Old

Say it isn't so... has it really been almost 2 whole months since Jocelyn came into our lives? Time is flying and as you can see by the comparison picture she is getting so big. I just love those chunky, kissable cheeks. She is definitely finding her personality now. She recently discovered her voice and will often just "shout" out and her face cracks me up. She looks around like did I just make that noise haha. I just can't get enough of her. I am definitely not looking forward to going back to work, the very thought of it makes me cry. So I won't think about it now haha... we'll cross the bridge when we get there. For now I plan to enjoy my last week of being a stay at home mommy :( Enough sad stuff, funny thing happened last night on her 7wk birthday. I had just changed her and she had a HUGE poopie diaper. So I got her all cleaned up and put her in the bathtub. I was rinsing her body off just about to wash her hair and get her out of the tub when she tooted. No biggie she is a gassy little girl haha. Then shortly after the toot her face went bright red & she grunted... uh oh classic I'm about to poop sign haha. Sure enough there it was!!! I picked up naked self up out of the tub very quickly, I startled her she looked at me like I was crazy!! Definitely a funny moment. Brad and I couldn't stop laughing. Since I'm talking about bathtime mishaps here is another and with pictures to prove it haha. A few nights back we were doing our bedtime routine and once again she had a huge poopie just before bathtime. I got her clothes off and was so focused on rushing her to the tub before she peed on me I totally forgot to take her socks off. I didn't even notice until I went to wash her legs & feet haha. I was a bit sleepy, can ya tell? Check out the picture below. Jocelyn was less than amused as you can see :)

Before I go here are a few things I love about my girl...

I love that when you pick her up the way she stretches backwards with her hands up by her head and toots her little butt out- its soo cute!

I love that moment when she is crying in her crib in the middle of the night, her world is upside down, her diaper is wet, her stomach is growling- she is miserable and as soon as I pick her up she calms down. To feel her little body become less tense and her breathing slow down is amazing.

Her smiles & almost laughs that she gives- she seems to do this most often on her changing table while getting a clean diaper or changing clothes.
The way she holds her head up now, she is getting to be such a big girl :) She is so alert most of the day and wants to look around and take everything in.
Her sweet little baby nose breath on my neck when we are cuddled up.
Her crazy, sticky up hair.

The way she smells.

I could go on forever... she is amazing :)

6 Weeks Old

My sweet baby girl is 6 weeks old today. I have been bad about updating, at least I am keeping up with taking the weekly pictures though. And if you can't tell my girl is a good eater and is getting chunky!!! I couldn't resist the naked picture for this week haha I just love her big baby belly.

Well alot has happened since my 3 week update... a few weeks back Jocelyn started sleeping in her big girl bed. Yay! She has slept much better since then and so have I to be honest. The baby monitor is sensative enough I can hear every grunt & cry, but it's so much easier to give her a minute and see if she is going to fall right back to sleep when she isn't in the same room with me. Over the last week and a half she has had several 5-7 hour stretches. Most recently last Sunday evening she ate and was asleep just after midnight and didn't wake up until 6:45 Monday AM. I panicked when that baby monitor started blaring, I jumped up Brad rolled over and said when did you get up last (he doesn't always hear the monitor during the night, so he assumed I had already been up to feed her since we went to bed haha). I yell when we went to bed as I run to her room... she was fine of course I was so worried she had cried all night and I didn't hear her or something stupid, but all was well :) And that uninterrupted 6.5-7 hours of sleep was amazing!!

Not much else to report, Jocelyn is a great baby. She has her occaisonal fussy moments, but overall she is great!! At night she eats, I swaddler her up and put her back to bed. Even if she isn't completely asleep she doesn't fuss just hangs out until she falls back asleep. We have gotten into the routine of nightly baths. She loves to take a bath and this gets her all wide awake for a few hours which usually helps her to sleep better... which we all love!! Her usual eating schedule is every 3- 3.5 hours she has some days where she acts like she is starving and ends up eating more like every 2 hours haha... which shows because the girl has got several chins and lots of adorable leg rolls haha. Speaking of rolls, Yesterday my co workers threw me a "meet the baby shower" since Jocelyn arrived early before they could throw me a shower. While at the clinic I weighed my big girl she was 10lbs and 14oz... my big girl!!!

Ok time to get up and get moving, the baby girl and I are going for a walk!!!
